Adrian Chiles and DL – London HMV Forum September 2nd- Both with a lot to do on Monday…
Well after a whirlwind week, I’ve managed to make it to 54.
It was certainly some week with back to back Robert Plant shows and then the day in London on Friday. I personally thought Robert & the Band Of Joy live experience was pretty amazing as you will have read – though I respect that it won’t be for everybody.
Friday was spent in the company of my lifelong friends Dec, Tom, Phil and …

The above photo was taken by Tom Locke outside the Mannheim hotel Led Zeppelin were staying at during their two night stint at the Mannheim Eisstadion on July 2nd and 3rd 1980. To the far left is John Paul Jones and you can see Robert in the centre. The man to the right of JPJ is Michael Kirschner then the tour co-ordinator for WEA Records in Germany. It was his job to make sure everything went smoothly on the road and he acted as interpreter for the band and in …

The last few days have been dominated by a wave of nostalgia for the 31st anniversary Knebworth. I’d intended to mark the occasion on the site and with a few Facebook postings but it all became a bit more than that. The response to the postings has been quite amazing – maybe I should not be too surprised about this reaction, as …

I can remember a fair few Robert Plant new single premieres down the years.
Hearing an advance tape of Big Log in June 83 and knowing it would catch the summer mood. Being totally mystified by Pink And Black when it was first aired on the Whistle Test. Heaven Knows played on Radio One’s review show Roundtable and being given a thumbs up by Bee Gee Barry Gibb. 29 Palms heralding the Fate Of Nations era on a bright April morning.
This week Angel Dance was added to the list. Being out …

”One publishes a splendid Led Zeppelin magazine doesn’t one” – The TBL 2 meet HRH, July 21st 1982.
Seeing the announcement of the Princes Trust concert due to be staged later this year with Eric Clapton headlining, reminded me of my experiences at the 1982 Princes Trust Rock Gala staged at the London Dominion Theatre.
This was the night Robert Plant performed on a London stage for the first time since the demise of Zep. My good friend Tom and I were there on the evening of July 21st 1982 to witness …

It was good to see a fair amount of media fare acknowledging the 25th anniversary of Live Aid this week.
So where we you on that esteemed day?
Bizarrely I actually have You Tube evidence of where the good lady Janet and I were on the afternoon of Saturday July 13th 1985.
After watching Status Quo open the event on TV, we took a trip into town for a drink or two – it was a lovely hot day and we wandered into one of our local pubs The Bear in Bedford High …

The TBL 2 GF and DL meet with another fully paid up member of the Black Country Communion – Marble Arch London July 5th 2010
Last Monday was a bit of a whirlwind day as aside from the evening’s Them Crooked Vultures gig, Gary and I had a lunchtime rendezvous with Glenn Hughes.
This was to conduct a follow up interview with Glenn regarding the Black Country Communion album. As he had been on the phone from LA back in February, Glenn was a fantastic interviewee. Accommodating, friendly, lucid and incredibly positive, …

DL with a fully paid up member of the Black Country Communion - London June 29th 2010
Let’s get this one out of the way. England’s exit from the World Cup was indeed a bitter pill to swallow. I know we were poor overall, but I can’t help thinking if the goal that never was had been rightly allowed it might have all been a different story. It’s all history now though and we are left with the aftermath, the recriminations and inquests. Can’t get too excited about the rest of …

England out – Lampard’s goal that never was is a bitter pill to swallow and could have changed the game – but at the end of the day we were just not good enough – in fact woeful in the second half. Forty years of hurt…as the song says ”We’ll keep on getting bad results”……A low ebb at the Totnes Arena…beers are needed…..DL 5.25 PM June 27th
The valiant USA went out of the World Cup last night in a 2-1 defeat to Ghana. Overall they can be well proud of …
