I’m actually not sad about missing out on the deluxe edition. I didn’t hear about the availability of this book until August of this year and by that time the deluxe edition was not an option for purchase as it had been completely sold out. The only difference between the collector’s edition and the deluxe is the clamshell case. (I believe the official term is “solander” case.) Anyhow the collector’s edition has a much larger photo of him on the binding and that to me is rather fantastic. I’ve been assured by Genesis that the content is exactly the same so it’s not even an issue. Not too much longer to wait now!

I have been waiting for this for several months now..I could not afford the Deluxe edition but will be quite happy with the Collectors.. For all of you griping about the price, you need to consider the fact that Pagey has hand-picked these pictures, written the captions and most IMPORTANTLY held each one of these books in THOSE hands and PERSONALLY signed them.. you know, the Hands he Plays the GUITAR with…Think about it… I only wish he would throw in one of his picks with each book and I do agree he needs to put out music and the O2 show on DVD as well…Peace…

Genesis puts out a beautiful product, nice to have Jimmy Page one of their offerings. I’m looking forward to seeing this when it’s completed, especially given Page’s attention to detail when he is personally in control.

The literary equivalent of a full-blown Led Zeppelin reunion in a garden shed.
I’m a little disappointed that Jimmy is collaborating on an historically important project that most fans will never get to see.
We’ve all waited for something like this, but at a standard book cost. All the leather bound luxury and rarity value is irrelevant to most fans. We just want Jimmy’s account of his life in pictures.
Hopefully sense will prevail and this material will ultimately be produced in an affordable format.

I’m thrilled to have been able to pre-order and get in on the collectors edition. I was informed by the company that the Deluxe editions sold out in less than 24-hours. This is an investment well worth the price, and its f&*%@#g Jimmy Page you can’t get any cooler in my book.

I was all kinds of excited when I saw this headline! I was ready to place an order….until I saw the price. Brought me quickly back to reality.

The Collector’s edition for me here in the States works out to over $600 US ! That doesn’t include the shipping & handling. I’m afraid I’ll just have to pass on this, no matter HOW badly I want to look at it! Sorry, Mr. Page….I don’t share your riches.

(The deluxe edition would have been over $1,000 US…)

Unfortunently high end books is what Genesis do and JP is only following in the foot-steps of George Harrison and Derek Taylor. This is purely an investment opportunity for book collectors and nothing to do with rock and roll

A soft-back version for the fans later this year would be great…
Come on Jimmy, what about it… !
… and a free cd of unreleased live Zeppelin tracks would be a great bonus addition !

I was excited to hear about a new book from JP…. great i’ll treat myself OMG…! why has he decided to release something which is by far out of reach and out of pocket for most of us mortals…?

  • kim said:

    with respect-how can most fans afford this book?-it IS just a book-NOT a date w/JP himself…
