US TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED : JASON BONHAM TALKS TO TBL ABOUT THE LED ZEPPELIN EXPERIENCE – ”I WANT TO MAKE THIS A CELEBRATION OF MY DAD’S LIFE’’

Jason Bonham has announced details of his Led Zeppelin Experience tour – see full listing of dates below. He will be performing over 30 gigs across the USA as a tribute to the 30th anniversary of his Dad’s passing. The Multi media show is being co –produced by Annerin Productions who have previously been involved in The Beatles ‘’Rain” and “The Pink Floyd Experience” events.
‘’I’ve started planning the whole stage show, getting it into context and into a timeline’’ Jason recently told Dave Lewis in an exclusive interview for Tight But Loose.
‘’This is my life story not just the Zeppelin story It’s how it was for me as a kid using various images but then concentrating on different periods. I’ve also got plenty of film, my Mum’s given me permission to use some things like cine film from our last holiday and many photos of me and my Dad together.’’
‘’We have been working really hard in rehearsals. I want the singer to get every phrase right and the guitarist to get every detail – right down to the jams that we will insert – like something from Zep live in 1975. I’m not going to reveal the band members until the first gig as I don’t want to add to the pressure.’’
‘’With my Dad I never had a chance to tell him how fantastic he was. It’s only now I can fully appreciate what he achieved. I mean every drummer I hang out with adores him. I’m trying not to make the show too sad, but there will be moments I guess of high emotion. Ultimately I want to make it a celebration of my Dad’s his life. Looking back it was such a huge loss, but within that I gained a lot too. It made me want to pick up the sticks again because I wanted to play like him. It gave me a purpose.’’

Lucky Americans in that we do not find it cheesy but quite touching and not at all cynical, Dulcie. But then, America did embrace the lads before the UK did,after all. JMO..Peace from the US….
To Dave M & jon, I seriously doubt that a show like this would come to the UK. To me, it’s very much geared towards the American LZ fan market. They love this type of thing. Even though I personally would love to see it, UK audiences are far more cynical and would probably find this type of tribute a bit cheesey. Just my opinion 🙂
Bought my tickets today as soon as they went on sale. See you at the State Theater in Minneapolis for the kick off of Jason’s show in America. I’m so Psyched!
Jason I was lucky enough to see your stunning performance on that emotion charged night at the o2,I was also lucky enough to see your dad play at Earls Court in 75 when I was a teenager

There’s been plenty of discussion about the merits of Jason’s idea. I for one am all for it. Let’s not overlook that he is the current drummer of Led Zeppelin, so he has every justification in aligning himself with the band. Add in the level of father/son insight the planned events are going to provide and you have a very interesting prospect indeed. And as many Zep devotees have acknowledged during the recent Knebworth anniversary, Jason’s dad was uniquely talented and a bona fide celebration like The Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin experience is timely indeed.

I’m very happy that Jason is doing a tribute for his father. I got a total respect for the ex members of Led Zeppelin because the soul of the band left the day of his loss. Nobody can take his place…except Jason.
