Friday night at 10:30 PM (French hour), French radio Europe2 will broadcast an archive recording of the Zep concert that took place at the Olympia, Paris on October 10 1969, The concert has not been heard since it was first broadcast in November 69 on Europe 1, for the program Musicorama. 
The radio can be listened to via streaming.

28 years ago today on a late cold November afternoon,I walked into the plush surroundings of the Waldorf Hotel in London and ordered a vodka and lime at the bar just behind Richard Cole who was organising drinks for three quarters of Led Zeppelin.
The occasion was the annual Melody Maker Poll Awards for which Peter Grant had rounded up Robert, Bonzo and Jonesy to accept a remarkable seven awards.

Zeppelin score Top 40 hit with Stairway

Following the online distribution of the Led Zeppelin catalogue, Stairway To Heaven has achieved top 40 status on the official UK charts based on sales of the download of the track. It entered the UK chart at 37 and registers at 39 this week – it now joins Whole Lotta Love as the second official Zep track to reach the UK top 40. 
Stairway To Heaven has of course previously charted in cover versions by Far Corporation and Rolf Harris.

“Wally with a brolly” is one of the more blatant back page headlines after England’s dismal failure last night. It’s a description of Steve McLaren holding off the rain as he watched his England team fall  apart. It’s another bitter pill to swallow but I guess we should be used to it. Oh well at least they’ll be no England Euro 08 games to juggle with if Zep should tour next summer …
 
The word Wally is actually a timely one to see for me as it was 36 years ago …

Official Zeppelin website relaunched

The official ledzeppelin.com website has been revamped and relaunched.
As well as keeping the world up to date on Led Zeppelin’s activities, the site will give fans a chance to explore the band’s history and music within a variety of information, photos, Official Merchandise and audio-visual media. One key area of the site is the “Timeline” – a searchable concert itinerary of all of Led Zeppelin’s previous tour dates. This is an area for fans to contribute to the site by submitting their own reviews of performances seen through the years …

An excellent interview with Jimmy Page conducted with Fiona Bruce was aired on the BBC News bulletins on Monday November 19. Jimmy talked about a variety of subjects including his improving finger and the exciting prospect of being back on stage. See the link here
