TBL NEWS ROUND UP:
Here’s a roundup of latest news and views in the world of Led Zeppelin…
JOHN PAUL JONES ON TOUR WITH SUPERSILENT
Next week John Paul Jones will be joining cult Norwegian industrial ambient-noise group Supersilent for a series of UK dates in November –support act is experimental Japanese composer/field recording artist Aki Onda. The dates are as follows:
Nov 14th, Town Hall, Birmingham
Nov 15th, The Arches, Glasgow
Nov 16th, RNCM, Manchester
Nov 17th, Arnolfini, Bristol
Nov 18th, Village Underground, London
In the August issue of Uncut, 24, talking about his work with Supersilent John revealed that his latest project shares some of the improvised qualities of the Zeppelin era. “There were great unplanned improv sequences in Led Zep songs such as Dazed And Confused and Whole Lotta Love,” he commented.. “Quite often I found myself on stage with absolutely no idea of what I was going to do, and that’s the fun of it.” Unlike Zeppelin, though, his performances with Supersilent use complex electronic processing: “I love this style of playing – it can be extraordinarily delicate and beautiful, or it can sound like the end of the world.”
Here’s a link to an excellent recent interview with John that was feaured in the Financial Times last Saturday.
