JOHN BONHAM REMEMBERED ON SEPTEMBER 25th 2010

26 September 2010 9,827 views 5 Comments

Fans around the world paid tribute to John Bonham yesterday on the 30th anniversary of his passing.

On a bright Autumn Saturday morning At St Michaels church cemetery in Rushock, Gary Davies laid a wreath on behalf of Tight But Loose and Led Zeppelin fans everywhere. It was laid next to wreaths from Pat and Zoe Bonham. Dawn Atherton was another fan who made the journey to pay her respects.

In an initial report from the ‘’Bonzo The Groove Remains The Same’’ event in Hollywood, Nancy Bacon revealed that Deborah Bonham performed a stirring Since I’ve Been Loving You. Further reports to follow.

In London at the Marlborough Head pub, it was good to be in the company of like minded fans on a poignant day. Lifelong fans Mark Harrison and Amy Maloney who was over from Washington DC were reunited. Warm vibes prevailed throughout the afternoon and evening, as we discussed great performances, great gigs and how John Bonham enlightened our lives with his vital contribution to the band we cherish as much now as 30 years ago.

There was a nice Bonzo related co- incidence when talking to the Marlborough Head landlord Eamonn Maddon, as he told us how he used to serve John alongside Maurice Gibb and The Kinks Ray Davies in a pub he worked in at Hampstead the early 70s.

The toast wherever fans were yesterday was of course for John Henry Bonham – always remembered – always loved.
