DL Diary Update:
Got back in the early hours from our weeks holiday in Santa Eulalia Ibiza where we stayed last year. We had a fantastic time, despite the rain that seemed to follow us around -”Upon us all just a little rain must fall ” as the birthday boy put it…and boy did we get one or two monsoon like thunder storms – it did not dampen the good lady Janet and I having a fun filled break – a fair few Sangria’s and San Miquel’s were consumed and we took in plenty of live music at the various bars – in fact we clocked up two versions apiece by differing rock/pop covers bands of Whiskey In The Jar, Smoke On The Water, Hotel California, Where The Streets Have No Name and Walk On The Wild Side! I did discover some vinyl in one of the gift shops, alas it was not a rare Led Zep pressing but an Ibiza dance music 12 inch single!
Best act we saw was singer/guitarist Richard Sharp who we had caught last year – his enthusiastic set included excellent versions of ELO’s Mr Blue Sky and Telephone Line, Bob Seeger’s’ We Got Tonight, The Eagles Desperado, The Travelling Wilbury’s Handle With Care and Tom Petty’s I Won’t back Down. Top stuff.
It was back to a rainy Luton Airport around 2am this morning and now it’s back to reality with TBL matters to catch up on and orders to fulfil – and a whole autumn of TBL activity to get underway in the coming weeks. Pleasingly Janet’s Mum Bet is now out of hospital and back home and not too bad. Not sure if I can make the Hats Off gig on Saturday as a lot to catch up here -I am sure it will be a great night.
I am right back into the Zep scheme of things with the Proud Chelsea Gallery Led Zeppelin From The Beginning Photo Exhibition launch to attend tonight. More on that on the TBL Facebook pages to follow.
Finally there’s one other birthday to mention –
Happy Birthday to Carol Foy for Sunday…enjoy Venice with Gary!

It would be interesting to hear Plant add some vocals to Pod Pod carrot and Yorkshire pudding thing. It’s a nice track. Especially the build up at the end with the guitar figure. I wonder if Plantr actually did a guide vocal or anything in Munich at the time? Dave, oh font of all Zep knowledge?
Well done Dave as usual! I was glad to see Bid you Goodnight included in the clips. One of my favorite performances was the Robert and Band of Joy with the Oriana Choir singing Twelve Gates/Bid You Goodnight … classic
Thanks Dave. ‘ Worse than Detroit ‘ there superb with Phil ( Hawaiiian shirt period – a la Jimmy ) together with ‘ Bell-boy ‘ Townsend.
Hoping to get some of that early solo era stuff at the Hammerstein Ballroom gig next month. Pemblwydd hapus to Robert too on thie occasion of his birthday.
Good stuff indeed Dave. See you at the Stables.
