To mark the impending momentous worldwide screening of the Led Zeppelin Ahmet Ertegun 02 reunion concert on October 17th, we are counting down to the day with a daily Celebration Day Newsletter post. This will feature relevant news and updates and archive features

Countdown to the Celebration Day…9 days to go.

CELEBRATION DAYS ARE NEARLY UPON US…

So begins the first of what will surely be some of the most exciting weeks in the history of Led Zeppelin.

The countdown to the unveiling of the Celebration Day film is now well upon us.

Tomorrow in New York, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham will hold a press conference at New York’s Museum of Modern Art and then attend the premiere of the Celebration Day film at the Zeigfield Theater.

On Friday, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones will be attending the London premeire at the Hammersmith Apollo.

TBL Feeedback:

If you are attending any of the events above and the subsequent premieres in Berlin and Tokyo next week, we would very much welcome your initial thoughts, views and feedback and pics. These can be emailed to the usual email davelewis.tbl1@ntlworld.com –or comments can be added to the relevant TBL postings.

Subsequently when the film opens worldwide across cinemas on October 17th, we again welcome all reviews, feedback and pics.

On the photos side we would welcome any shots of the scenes outside the cinemas, shots of the billboards , yourselves soaking up the action around the cinemas etc  -in general a visual record of the milestone of this film’s screenings across the world.

This will be in consideration for the next TBL magazine (issue 34) and the book of the 02 reunion concert story I am collating. I would also welcome full reviews of your Celebration Day film experience for inclusion in the magazine and book –these can be up to 2,000 words – the deadline for these would be mid November. If you have already contributed to the book, a review of the film to complete the whole 02 reunion experience to go with your original 02 concert review would also be most welcome. Looking ahead post November 19 your reviews on the DVD/Blue ray release will complete the picture.

Facebook and Twitter. Don’t forget you can also join us on the Tight But Loose Facebook and Twitter social hubs. If you are on Facebook be sure to add us as a friend – the TBL Facebook page has additional pics and content etc. Similarly follow us on Twitter.

In effect, the various TBL mediums are at your disposal to share your thoughts on the entire Celebration Day experience. We look forward to hearing from you…

TBL 33

Alongside all the Celebration Day film activity, I am expecting delivery of the new issue of the TBL magazine this week. In between a little trip to the Beer Festival (sticking stamps on is thirsty work!) watching the excellent Beatles documentaries and a lovely walk in town yesterday afternoon with the good lady Janet, I have spent a fair chunk of the weekend preparing the labels, stamps and envelopes  for the impending TBL 33 mail out. Gary Foy came over Friday to assist sorting labels etc  (a massive thanks  to him again for a great job on all the TBL subscription admin). More on all this to follow…suffice to say TBL 33 will be yet another TBL service guaranteed to enhance your appreciation of these great Celebration Days. If you haven’t subscribed or ordered – do so now!

LONDON PREMIERE PRE SCREENING TBL MEET:

Tomorrow I’ll be posting up details of a TBL pre gig pub meet for those attending the London premiere on Friday.

Below – The TBL 2 last Friday  – with Mr Foy and TBL 33 cover proof…

Above ….the TBL mail out preperation commences…

Sticking stamps on is actually thirsty work  so on Saturday afternoon a quick trip to the Bedford Beer Festival was in order…here with TBL contributor Ian Avey (in a very nice t shirt).

CELEBRATION DAY COUNTDOWN PLAYLIST:

In the run up to the countdown the TBL deck is going to be alive with a relevant daily playlist. This is a great time to dig around your collection and add to the build up with Zep inspiration, be it certain tracks, CD’s or albums on your ipod, or deck.

I intend to root out some great Zep stuff to play every day of this period. My line up for today is as follows:

Paris 1969 CD – a sizzling night from October ‘69

Led Zeppelin II vinyl – another autumn fave

Going To California double LP – you gotta love this 1971 recording!

That’s mine – let me know what you are being inspired by in the run up –list your playlist choices in the comments section below.

AND FINALLY….. 02 REUNION SHOW QUOTE OF THE DAY:

‘’It’s difficult to believe this is a band who have barely played together for the best part of three decades. They sounded awesomely tight, bizarre, beguiling and better than ever.’’

Alexis Petridis – The Guardian

Until tomorrow…keep reading – keep listening…

    Dave,
I’ve got the t-shirt that Ian Avey was wearing. A really cool shirt. However, I will be wearing my TBL Feather In the Wind t-shirt the night of Celebration Day! Totally stoked, can’t wait!
