National Harbor is a beautiful facility, brand spanking new, situated on the Maryland side of the Potomac River looking across to Alexandria, Virginia, at the foot of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Reagan airport in Arlington is just up the coastline from there.

The bridge links both sides of Interstate 95, and the city of Washington is due north on 295.

There are water taxis available to Alexandria, National’s Ballpark (major league baseball) and the Georgetown waterfront. Of course, all the great sights of DC’s monuments are amazing from the water (the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Kennedy Center, the Iwo Jima Memorial, the Watergate, the Pentagon, Mount Vernon, etc)

Sorry to sound like a tourist brochure, but I really enjoyed the new facility and its location, and I suspect Zeppelin fans will as well.

It also about 15 miles south on the Beltway from the old Capitol Centre site in Largo, which Zeppelin conquered for four nights over Memorial Day weekend back in 1977.

Gee, I mentioned to my wife (jokingly of course) about ZepFest 2011, and I got a “I don’t care if you go” – and there was no sarcasm in her voice. So maybe I will make it.
