“Fantastique” as Robert said, in great shape for this last gig of the tour. Maybe a sold out show, in the suburbs of Metz. Quite an old audience (average more than 50 ?) but who seems to have discovered Robert with the Unledded No Quarter period, very quiet, maybe they didn’t know “Night Flight” : no response for this song, played by Robert for the first time in his live on stage (?) and who seemed to need the lyrics ! A very faithful version of the studio one, except a very quite break inside, so a very nice surprise, as was the acoustic version of Friends with Billy Fuller on the counter bass.
Going to California won’t ever be as good as by the original band as I remember so far as the Manic Nirvana Tour in 1990: still pleasant but 3 people are missing for that one! A very nice version of Four Sticks, with the same treatment given to Gallows Pole.
Of course, everyone went crazy for Whole Lotta Love but, for me, the great moments were Friends and Night Flight.
Surprisingly, they didn’t play “Shine it all around” but the changes of the set list tend to convince you to attend to different shows.
Hope the festival ones will be as interesting and surprising, who knows?
