Out Of Our Zep Dens…

26 April 2007 1,945 views No Comment

30 years ago this weekend, Led Zeppelin performed a pair of memorable shows at the Richfield Coliseum on their 1977 US tour – later to be immortalised on the Destroyer box sets.

To commemorate this Zep milestone all roads lead to the Knights Templar pub in London on Saturday for a special fan gathering. These events are always great social occasions as we emerge from our respective dens to communicate with like minded enthusiasts on the subject that continues to inspire us.

So was this 1977 US tour better than 1975?…what exactly happened at that rain curtailed date in Tampa?…who exactly was the Eddie mentioned in the title of that famous LA ’77 bootleg?…what was a badgeholder?…who was the doctor played by?…do nurses really do it better as Robert’s t-shirt in Oakland proclaimed?…and how come the TBL editor now has more grey hairs and less of it than ever before?
Just some of the questions likely to be raised and discussed over a pint or two on the day. We look forward to seeing all that can make it to this return of The Destroyer/Tight but Loose event.

The night before I’m hoping to catch ex Free/Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke at his gig in Bedford. Full reports on all this activity to follow.

Finally – sooner rather than later the new issue of Tight But Loose should be dropping on subscribers doormats.
Let me know what you think of it.
