It’s been pretty hectic here with ongoing work on the forthcoming TBL magazine and preparing the launch of the 2010 TBL Subscription offer. There are some exciting plans ahead with the magazine as you can see from the site. Subscribe before December 31st and there’s a £5 off offer on the next Tight But Loose Publishing title Led Zeppelin Feather In The Wind, Over Europe 1980 – 30 Years Gone due out next year.,

The Tight But Loose magazine continues to be a unique publication – offering news, views and features that will take you back to the music of Led Zeppelin with fresh perspective. Web sites are great for browsing but the Tight But Loose magazine is a lasting collectable to be read again and again. Sold out back issues for sale are a regular sight on e-bay, so make sure you never miss an issue and subscribe now here.

Elsewhere I’ve been liaising with tribute band Led Zep Too who are in the Bedford area on November 14th for a gig at Haynes Village Concert Hall (aka International Arena!). I’m planning to be in attendance with the TBL stall so if you are in the area and can make it, be sure to say hello. Tickets are on sale now via www.ledzeptoo.co.uk

Did escape last weekend for a night out with the Wallbanger/Bedford Knebworth crew and wives at the old soul disco (aptly named Dinosaur Disco) in the Flowerpot in town. This is the venue we descended upon a year back, and once again shoe leather was pummelled to the likes of Tom Jones uplifting If He Should Ever Leave You and Candi Staton’s seminal Young Hearts Run Free. Oh yes I’m a soul man when the occasion takes me. Regrettably the hangover lasted well into Sunday and wasn’t helped by the pressure of Adam stepping up to take another penalty for his team. Thankfully he netted and the headache began to recede.

More DL on You Tube: Yes there’s no getting away from it – Blockbuster have put up a few more choice DL greatest flicks. There’s a vintage 1985 interview clip for MTV shot in a Soho studio in September of that year. I vividly remember dragging a load of posters (some of which can be seen in the background) down for that one on the train. There’s another MTV sequence from the 1992 Led Zep Celebration Days Convention- here I have hair in abundance and not a grey one in sight. Have to say by the end of that rather exhausting weekend a few had begun to surface…there’s also a clip of me talking about Presence in the highest esteem as I would, and then there’s the BBC Six O Clock News clip from the 02 prior to the experience of a lifetime. All this and me leaping on stage with The Who at Shepperton in 1978. That little lot could give the X Factor a run in the ratings (not!). Anyway have a look at the link here http://www.youtube.com/KnebworthTBL30

Great to hear John Bonham was honored at the Classic Rock Awards. I randomly picked out Physical Graffiti to play this week and marvelled yet again at In My Time Of Dying…the man is doing the impossible on that one as he often did. This morning I signed off the lay out proofs for the Nick Drake feature I’ve written for Record Collector which will appear in the November 19 issue. Nice to have a visit today from Gary Foy and as we caught the news as usual a few retro DVD’s came out – including the Page & Plant Shepherd’s Bush Empire 1998 show where both of us can be heard a hollering and a whooping. That’s yet another clip that can be found on you tube at http://www.youtube.com/user/Blockbuster9002#p/u/19/quE5jIi-fTk

We both agreed life seemed a lot simpler back then, but hey, you have to move ever onward.

Finally had something of a whirlwind day in London yesterday as I hooked up with veteran Planet Rock DJ Nicky Horne for an interview I’ve been trying to sort with him for a while. He was really excellent, with proud tales of introducing Zep at Earls Court ,the silver goblet award he got for doing so, some memorable tales of being on tour with them in 77 ,flying in the Ceasars Chariot jet, attending what he described as an incredible gig in Baton Rouge and watching them at Knebworth from the side of the stage. ‘’Planet Rock IS Planet Zeppelin” he emphatically stated as he left the pub to record the evening’s show. The fruits of this exclusive conversation will be featured in full in the forthcoming Tight But Loose magazine. Yet another reason not to miss an issue.
