If you have subscribed already you can expect TBL 30 to come your way in late September. If you have yet to re- subscribe from last year or are inspired to indulge in a subscription just go to this link below to pay via pay pal. You will immediately be sent TBL 29 with TBL 30 to follow in late September and the final issue of this year’s subscription to follow at the end of the year.

This is another call to arms for visitors to the site to invest in TBL product. It’s a source of some frustration that the TBL magazine does not reach a  greater audience. My aim is to produce quality products that will enhance the appreciation and enjoyment of the world of Led Zeppelin. Judging by the reaction to the magazines and books recently published that premise is being met.

Had a great night out at the Hats Off To Led Zeppelin gig last Friday. The Stables venue in Milton Keynes is absolute class and the band did justice to the surroundings with a sharp incisive set that hit the mark –drummer Simon Wicker being particularly impressive.

Great to see Mark H and Phil H and the Geodie girls Lynn and Maxine plus Michaela, Dan, Geoff & Linda Bridges and Cliff Hilliard and Tracy. Tom and I stayed over at Cliff’s on Friday night. In the morning It was a real thrill to have a wade through Cliff’s collection. It’s always refreshing to view first hand somebody else’s passion for this band. Cliff has some superb stuff including a very nice Firm poster, a poster for A Priory Of Brion appearance in Greece, framed Earls Court,Knebworth and over Europe posters. He also has an array of Zep singles including many rare foreign pressings and a host of Page session singles from the 60s.

Of course Cliff’s speciality is the collecting of Led Zeppelin and related solo tickets. This collection is simply awesome. He has amassed over 250 Led Zeppelin tickets ranging from early 69 appearances through to the Back To The Clubs tour on into the peak years and Over Europe 1980. It felt like I was literally touching history.

History in your hands….

Equally impressive is Cliff’s collection of solo tickets – masses of Robert Plant gigs/Priory/Firm etc –plus many rare 60s flyers of gigs by The Tennessee Teens ,Listen etc…. It was an eye opening view of  a simply amazing collection – absolutely immense.

Football is back and it’s the usual torture. I ventured to my good friend Terry’s on Monday to see Man Utd v Spurs. Once again Spurs came off second – a 3-0 defeat and another to add to the many we have suffered at Old Trafford. Still it’s early days – I’m sure R.Plant and G.Hughes will be well pleased with Wovles bright start. The boy Adam’s season starts with a match this Sunday. I am down as official linesman this season – so running up and down the pitch deploying the delicate offside rule will be how I’ll be spending most Sunday afternoon’s ongoing.

Elsewhere it’s the usual late Summer stuff going on here with September beckoning which means back to pre school for Janet as deputy leader and into sixth form for the boy Adam (his GCSE results today were most encouraging) and journalist college for Sam in London. For me the battle rages on to spread the TBL word, continue driving the book sales, get TBL 30 out there amongst many other initiatives to get under way. Before all that there’s a couple of birthdays with the good lady’s next Wednesday August 31 and your TBL editor hitting all the fives on September 5. Over that preceding weekend (Sept 3 and 4 )Bedford hosts its own mini free festival Bedford Summer Fayre where Abba Gold top the bill (for the ladieees) on the Saturday and Are You Experienced (for the boys) a Jimi Hendrix tribute on the Sunday. Not quite High Voltage but hey we will give it a go weather permitting.

Dancing Queen or Voodoo Chile? It must be age catching up but I quite fancy a bit of both…
