As reported here two months ago Jimmy Page appeared at this years Rock & Roll all Of Fame held in Cleveland to induct guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck into the famed Hall Of Fame. During his speech remembered his friendship with Beck going back to when there were 13 – 14 years old and into the Yardbirds.
He also said of Jeff solo work “Jeff started making solo records, and I carried on with the Yardbirds for a while, and we both started to continue in our own sort of way. …
Well as of Monday April 6 I will be back in gainful employment. I have a new job working at the Borders store in Milton Keynes.
Borders is primarily a major book selling outlet and also sells Magazines, DVD’s and CD’s –the MK store has a Paperchase concession selling designer stationary and a Starbucks café.
It’s the bottom rung in but a foot in the door and as the singer once said ‘’everything that’s small has to grow’’ and it will bring in much needed regular income.

Robert Plant appears on a track on the new album by Buddy and Julie Miller titled Written in Chalk. What You Gonna Do Leroy has Robert trading vocals with Buddy accompanied by fellow band mates Jay Bellerose on drums, Dennis Crouch on bass and Stuart Duncan on fiddle plus Gurf Morlix on lap steel. The track was recorded in a dressing room during the Raising Sand tour. It can be downloaded via itunes. Buddy Miller is currently recuperating from open heart surgery.
After all the recent stress of form filling, CV’s, Jobseekers etc, it was good to be out and about again last weekend. Main event was of course the W & H Peacock Rock And Pop and Sporting Memorabilia Auction Sale. The auction centre itself has a strong Lewis family connection. Bruv JL has spent months collating and organising the Rock And Pop sale, both my sister in law’s work there and Sam had a Saturday job there so it’s a place we know well.

A number of Zep items went under the hammer at WH Peacock Auctioneers in Bedford on Saturday 14th March. Some of the stand-out items included Led Zeppelin – Guitar signed by Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page which sold for £1,200, Led Zeppelin US RIAA 6 x Platinum Award sold for £550, Jimmy Page limited edition print by Ross Halfin (£250) and aLed Zeppelin ‘Stairway to Heaven’ 1990 promotional single (only 150 pressed) plus explanatory record company memo which sold for £130.
We were concerned to hear that renowned Zep author Howard Mylett has been in hospital with heart problems. Howard has been in touch to say he’s now back home and would like to thank wife Anita and the staff at Brighton Sussex County Hospital.
