AN EVENING WITH ROBERT PLANT: BBC 2 SATURDAY NOVEMBER 6TH
Saturday night (November 6th) over on BBC 2 is the place to be for any right-minded Robert Plant fan as the channel is turning over two and an half hours of viewing time for “An Evening With Robert Plant”.
Kicking off at 22:15 with a new documentary which aims to shed light on Robert Plant’s solo ventures.
‘Robert Plant: By Myself’ is a unique insight into the singer’s life featuring some rare and very personal interviews.
The singer discusses his earliest days as a stamp-collecting grammar school kid in Stourbridge to the world conquering days of Led Zeppelin, following the trail to his current rejuvenation.
Ending with the simply question “how many me’s are there?” Robert Plant is shown to be in a reflective – yet extremely creative – mood. Set to be broadcast as part of an entire night dedicated to the singer, ‘Robert Plant: By Myself’ is a rare insight into a music legend who refuses to stand still.
This fascinating documentary is followed at 23:15 by The Band Of Joys performance at last week’s Roundhouse for the BBC’s Electric Proms. The band performed songs from his past and present and will feature a finale in which the Band of Joy are joined by the mass voices of the Oriana Choir.
The evening is rounded off at 15 minutes past midnight by “Robert On Later”, a combination off appearances on Later… With Jools Holland. Through a mix of performance and interviews from the 90’s, the programme sees Robert reunited with Jimmy Page and a Moroccan orchestra, teaming up with Tom Jones and Solomon Burke on the Hootenanny, playing with former band Strange Sensation and also with Alison Krauss.
All timings are UK times.
I’ve talked to several people in the US and we were closed out of the BBC telecasts online. We were so looking forward to watching the Band of Joy concert and Robert’s interview, but were told it wasn’t airing in our area, yet, we were able to hear the radio broadcasts. Dave, do you know if there will be any online links for US fans?
Loved the shows, and even got the extra songs and interviews from Electric Proms night via the ‘red’ button.
Looking forward to this with a couple of bottles of fine chianti (already started!) Had the afternoon with LZ I, III & PG spinning to get me in the mood (for a melody???)…
Just finished listening to the Roundhouse gig (again!) but this time streamed in the Beeb’s trial HD Audio – excellent quality!
