Jimmy Page in Japan

4 February 2008 2,167 views No Comment

Jimmy Page was in Japan last week to promote the new Mothership and The Song Remains The Same releases. At a press conference in Tokyo on January 28th , the guitarist spoke fondly of the resent O2 show.

He said (of the show), “That is what was so thrilling really — to come together after all this time and find that there was so much chemistry and so much electricity involved in these four characters.” And continued “We’d all agreed to take it very, very seriously and have a really good time at the same time,” Jimmy said. “We worked out the songs we were going to play, and it was exhilarating, it was fantastic. Every week was a week to look forward to. I can assure you the amount of work that we put into the O2 (concert), for ourselves rehearsing and the staging of it, was probably what you put into a world tour”.

But about future tour plans Jimmy said, “Robert Plant also had a parallel project running and he’s really busy with that project, certainly until September, so I can’t give you any news.

A short clip of the Tokyo press conferance can be found on Youtube.

Whilst in Tokyo Jimmy joined Marty Friedman (Megadeath guitarist) on a TV show called “Eigo De Shabera Night”, NHK`s hit program, for, presumably an interview, the program will be broadcast on February 25th in Japan.
