Rumours of a proposed Zep reunion show at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium have been denied in news stories circulating on the web this last week as follows: 

Legendary rockers LED ZEPPELIN have not booked Wales’ Millennium Stadium for a comeback gig, the venue’s manager has confirmed.

The veteran rockers reformed last year (07) for a one-off reunion concert in London, and rumours of a possible world tour have dogged the band ever since.

The group was recently rumoured to have reserved a date at the Cardiff, Wales venue for a concert in 2009 – fuelling speculation about a series of live dates.

But the stories have been dismissed by the ground’s boss, Gerry Toms.

He says, “It’s dead in the water (not happening). Because the concert was a success there was hope of a tour, but that was a lot of speculation. It would be great if they would, but as far as we know that is dead in the water.”

Led Zeppelin will not be reforming for more live dates this year, according to reports. There had been talk that the band would follow their successful appearance at London’s O2 Arena last December with more shows, but officials at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff have played down the idea. “Because the concert was a success there was hope of a tour, but that was a lot of speculation,” stadium manager Gerry Toms told the South Wales Echo. Demand for a repeat of the London date is known to be high, after more than one million fans applied for just 18,000 tickets when they went on sale last year. Hopes were raised when it was confirmed in February that Led Zeppelin representative Harvey Goldsmith was in talks with officials from the Welsh stadium, but Toms insists that for now any reunion is on hold. “It would be great if they would, but as far as we know that is dead in the water,” he confirmed.
