ROBERT PLANT JAMS WITH LOS LOBOS

Robert Plant made a surprise appearance on Tuesday June 29th in Chicago. He joined Los Lobos on stage at the Taste Of Chicago Festival held in Grant Park’s Petrillo Band Shell for a rousing version of the Roy Head classic “Treat Her Right” (The number Robert jammed with Jimmy Page on at his December 13th Hammersmith Odeon appearance back in 1983). David Hidalgo of Los Lobos had mentioned earlier in the band’s set that they had finished shooting a video earlier in the day with Robert Plant and then at the end of the set he joined them on stage. Robert introduced ”Treat Her Right” with the words, “OK, without any rehearsal, let’s try this.” In an uplifting performance, Robert aped the” Going To Chicago” lyric from ”When The Levee Breaks and ad-libbed lines from ”D’yer Ma’ker” – as can be viewed on the You Tube clip below.
On Monday evening he enjoyed a meal at David Burke’s Prime house at the James Hotel, providing guests in the lobby with an impromptu jam session. For photos of the Taste Of Chicago appearance follow this link to a photo gallery. www.suntimes.com
