ROBERT PLANT PRESENTS SENSATIONAL SPACESHIFTERS IN PERTH/ YOU TUBE SINGAPORE CLIPS/JIMMY PAGE AND JOHN PAUL JONES ECHO AWARD ACCEPTANCE SPEECH CLIP
Robert Plant presents Sensational Spaceshifters – West Coast Blues and Roots Festival – Fremantle: Western Australia, Perth –
This report by Mick Judd for TBL
Just got home. It was a great day with some great acts preceding Robert and the Strange Sensation, such as Chris Issak, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Status Quo. Robert and band came on about 7.30 pm and brought the house down with mostly Dreamland and Might Re-arranger materials. He looked quite fit and the band were well geared up for the gig. At one stage he made a joke about the raid by the Perth police on Zeppelin’s hotel back in February 1972 and that he had a policeman going through his suitcase as he woke up in the middle of the night. The local crowd thought the story quite funny and he dedicated the finale Rock and Roll to that cop.
Set list:
Heartbreaker (in a world music framework)
Tin Pan Valley
Another Tribe
Friends
Spoonful
Black Dog
Going To California
The Enchanter
Four Sticks
Fixin’ To Die
Ramble On
Bron Y Aur Stomp
Whole Lotta Love
Encore:
Rock n’ Roll

DL Dairy Update:
I was hoping to get along to the Hats Off To LZ gig at St Albans on the train tonight with Tom and Phil but the weather ( it’s still snowing a bit here) and train problems have beaten us – and my very sore back is also niggling me still. Have to be another time.
Many thanks for the many kind comments on the site and TBL Facebook regarding Janet’s mum Betty. She is still very weak having undergone various treatments in hospital but with more rest, we hope she will begin to gain some strength.
One positive note today was the arrival of some truly excellent Kenbworth shots (thank you Christer!) to add to the collation of the revised Knebworth book project. More work on that ahead.
Until next time…
Keep listening, keep reading…

Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters at The West Coast Blues and Roots in Fremantle was an amazing experience, well worth while. It may not have been Led Zep but in my mind it was every bit as good if not better, great variety and the treatment of the Zep songs had plenty of energy and pizazz. I took plenty of photos had a great time.
Cheers
Ric
On the countdown now to the Bluesfest at Byron next weekend.I have my ticket ready,I’ve managed to organise a lift with some friends and I’ve bought some wellies just in case…it tends to rain over the Easter / Bluesfest weekend. The footage from Timbre looks good..can’t wait.
