TBL 38 Announcement 1: Jimmy Page in the TBL interview…
I am pleased to announce that the forthcoming issue of the TBL magazine due to ship early November, will include an exclusive Jimmy Page interview conducted with me last week, in which he talks about the Led Zeppelin IV and Houses Of The Holy reissues, the experimental music he is due to release via his website, his record collecting and desire to be out and seen to be playing again….
Jimmy has long since promised he would provide an interview for TBL and he was as good as his word. I recorded this with Jimmy last Thursday afternoon during a day of media interviews he gave at the Gore Hotel Kensington. My allocated time was limited and the interview was centred mainly around the forthcoming reissues. There was of course a crop of questions I wanted to ask but time did run out all too soon!
Nonetheless, he was on great form talking lucidly about the reissues and more. His pride and enthusiasm for Led Zeppelin and his standing within it all, was plainly evident throughout my time with him. As was his keenness to get back out there and perform. After the interview I showed him a pic of he and I from The Feather In The Wind book taken on June 18th 1980 before the Cologne gig – as we posed for a then and now photo he laughed ‘‘we look a whole lot younger then!’
Younger then and older now – but neither of us no less fervent for this band that really is a way of life. ‘’Thanks for all your enthusiasm Dave’’ was his parting shot.
Thank you Jimmy for all yours…
Suffice to say, this is a major coup for the forthcoming TBL issue and if this isn’t a reason to subscribe – then I don’t know what is!
You can read the full contents of this Jimmy Page interview plus a host of other compelling views and features in the forthcoming issue TBL 38 which commences the TBL 2014/15 subscription. Fantastic! Would love to be a fly during your interviews!!
Nice work man, you deserve it. To sit with the man himself. I’ve had dreams where I was talking to Jimmy! I’m always there for all things Zeppelin. Although, no disrespect, but my love affair with Robert’s solo material seems to finally have run its course. Last couple of albums and live things I’ve caught on TV just haven’t got a hold of me. Last thing I loved was Dreamland. Couple of things off Mighty, but nothing really since then. Of course, I’m thrilled that he is out there doing HIS thing, God Bless him. So, now lets get Jimmy to give it a whirl, come on Mr. Page! Look at Jeff Beck! he is out there playing up a storm! And by the way, would still love to get John Paul Jones to go out again and play material from his solo albums, so damn good. cheers!
I wasn’t keen on the LZ4 and Houses bonus discs – but thanks to Dave’s previews I’ve been won over. And a Jimmy page interview in the upcoming TBL fantastic and exciting times. So much so that I made a point of double checking that I had paid my subscription – I had. Can’t wait!
without our wonderful work there would be a whole issue of never reading anything about ZEPPELIN, so many thanks for all you do with TBL and yes you have earned all the prise we say many thanks Dave you help us keep the mothership flying…
You had a dream and you lived it, full props Dave. sc
Outstanding, Dave. Thanks as always for your efforts across the decades. And thanks to Jimmy for doing the interview!
Dave – to sit in the same room as Jimmy and chat to him. Your a very lucky man. Bloody well done.
Pete
Thrilled for you Dave.
ARGHHH!!! This looks too good to not offer by digital subscription…Dave, how about it old buddy, old pal? OK, forget about the “old” part. Is there even a remote chance you be offering the option for a download (along with back issues of course)?
Cheers Mate,
Jeff
Fabulous photo Dave !! Grinning like a Cheshire Cat, and Jimmy’s looking pleased too. Cut you both in half and it would be difficult to say who would have more Zeppelin blood running through their veins ! Brilliant scoop for TBL38. – hope it shifts a load more copies and helps to fan the Zeppelin flames even more.
Well done and very well deserved Dave! Kudos to you for a long deserved show of respect from the “Man” himself; Jimmy Page! The photo is priceless as it clearly shows both of your happiness and respect for each other. I bet the ale has never tasted so great after your meeting with Jimmy Page!
Wools
Absolutely fabulous Dave well done you for getting the scoop of a lifetime!
You must be feeling proud. That picture of the four of you is wonderful.
Exciting news indeed…! I’m keen to know if Jimmy’s soon-to-be-released experimental music is new stuff or from the archives.
Well that is a big news!!! Thanks M.Lewis.
Good for you, Dave! That’s got to put a big charge in your step. I’m just thrilled to occasionally communicate with someone who has spoken with the man! One degree of seperation! Amazing. Wish Jimmy could have given you and TBL more time. You’ve earned it and you deserve it. Cheers!
