John Paul Jones will be performing at the forthcoming Cheltenham Jazz Festival as part of Spin Marvel, an electronic jazz group. The band includes Loose Tubes drummer Martin France, celebrated trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer and Terje Evensen on live elctronics. JPJ completes the line up on bass guitar. The group’s appearance is on Saturday April 30th at 5:15pm in the main arena.

As previously reported, the Earls Court Exhibition complex is scheduled for demolition next year. The much heralded concert arena and exhibition hall was of course the venue for Led Zeppelin’s legendary five night stint back in May 1975 and countless other shows including Pink Floyd’s The Wall performance and appearances by amongst others David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen and who could forget The Osmond’s show the week after Zep?
The site has been sold to house developers who plan to tear down the historic building next year. The exhibition hall also plays host to the Boat Show, Ideal Home Exhibition and the Great British Beer Festival.
Earls Court Zep Vet Phil Tattershall has been in touch to inform us that local residents and businesses against the purposed development have started an on-line petition to save Earls Court and the surrounding area. The on-line petition can be found here www.ipetitions.com/petition/sos_earls_court
We here at TBL fully support the campaign to save this historic London and LedZep landmark.

Thanks for the Laughs Dave. I continue to be amazed by JPJ’s passion for music and the diversity of his work. Hearing the insturmental track of GTBT reminds me about how amazing his bass lines are on that song. Robert’s show in the Twin Cities on April 12th was something I tried to get tickets for, unfortunately they sold out very quickly. I think the only reason The Band From Far Away didn’t get the gong was because of their choice of music, they all wanted to rock out to Zep.
aah Earls court, spent the last 25 yrs every January at a trade show there. Every time i walk up those famous steps and see that clock inside…… I feel so old! Where did those neverending summers go? Another iconic landmark gets replaced by something faceless and bland!
