John Paul Jones was a welcome guest for Seasick Steve’s bill topping appearance at the Cropredy Festival last Friday- August 12th. This report and photos for TBL from John Parkin:

Seasick Steve commenced his set with a couple of solo numbers. Halfway through the second song he announced “Please welcome a special friend of mine from the greatest rock’n’roll band ever Led Zeppelin – John Paul Jones”. The crowd went crazy.

He played with him for the rest of the set using a selection of instruments including mandolin and a huge pedal steel guitar set up. Highlights included  “You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks” and a lovely version of Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” which featured JPJ on the aforementioned mandolin. He seemed relaxed and really enjoying himself and as a power trio they really rocked out. They were enjoying it so much that they actually went over the midnight curfew albeit by a minute or two. Steve obviously wanted to keep going but the powers that be cut the stage power. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable show and another triumph for JPJ.  (John Parkin August 14th 2011)

After all of JPJ’s accomplishments (the list gets longer by the day)isn’t he deserving of recognition by the Queen herself? The man is amazing wouldn’t that be O.B.E. or something? Please forgive me I’m not sure if that’s correct.
