John is planning to write his own opera over the next year working with theatre director Gerald Thomas.
TBL is sad to report that producer/engineer Pat Moran has passed away after a decade-long battle with a debilitating disease. Pat was credited with engineering and assisting the mixing on Robert Plant’s first two solo album’s Pictures At Eleven and The Principal of Moments – he also worked with the likes of Lou Gramm, Big Country and Iggy Pop.
Newly formed tribute band Hats Off To Led Zeppelin are in action next Friday January 21st at the Wheatsheaf pub at 57 North Street in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
Admission is free and the band are due on around 9.45.
Myself and the TBL crew will be in attendance for this show – we look forward to seeing all that can make it along. (DL)
The band’s four piece line up features Peter Eldridge on vocals (his previous credits include appearing in the We Will Rock You Queen musical), Kevin Oliver Jones on bass/keyboards/mandolin, Simon Wicker on drums and percussion and guitarist Jason Beeson.

I agree with Jason, but it does at least show that the organizers are maybe fed up with the standard of the “winners” of previous years and want to inject some Class A QUALITY back into the Awards. Robert doesn’t need this, but it is a nice acknowledgment of his still conciderable popularity right across the broad spectrum of modern music and his continued relevance today.Good for him !
Good luck Robert in the Brits and John Paul to write an opera – whatever next !
A brit award????? Does that really hold any recognition for Roberts achievements? I don’t think so.
This is the awards show that has given these awards previously
1- BRITS Performance Of The Last 30 Years: Spice Girls –
“Wannabe” / “Who Do You Think You Are”
2- Outstanding contribution to music: Robbie Williams
3- Outstanding contribution to music: Pet Shop Boys
I think this is more an awards show for the executives & corporate bods alike….but hey, if Robert gets it.. good on him…
I think this catagory is decided by the Brits voting panel -certain awards are via a public vote but not this one.
The word is that UK rapper Tinie Tempah is the favourite. Hats off to Robert though for making the nominations -another Band Of Joy accolade
Hi Dave
Who decides on the Brit awards?
Who do we have to lobby to make sure our man wins??
