TBL NEWS ROUND UP: ROBERT PLANT ON CHRIS EVANS RADIO 2 SHOW – ANNA NICOLE OPERA OPENS TO FAVOURABLE REVIEWS
Robert Plant was the co host on the Chris Evans Radio 2 Breakfast Show this morning between 8 and 9am.
In a hugely enjoyable rapport with Chris Evans, he talked about the legacy of Zeppelin, the Band Of Joy album, Wolverhampton Wanderers and more –as well as reading out various news items. The playlist for the hour included Zep’s Rock And Roll and D’yer Mak’er plus the Band Of Joy’s Cental Two-O-Nine, Angel Dance and the new single Harm’s Swift Way.
A couple of effective loop pieces of Over The Hills And Far Away and Kashmir accompanied some of the chat. Robert also talked affectionately about Jimmy, Jonesy and Bonzo (”Our contribution, the four of us – it was vast, each member gave a lot’’), the O2 reunion (‘’All those media guys – they saw it as the next big roll out – Led Zeppelin was worth more than that’’) and the band – comparing Zep to Wolves he mused that Zeppelin could be very good or not so good on any given night – a bit like the team.
Asked about the plans ahead, he revealed The Band Of Joy would be playing at the Bonnaroo Festival in the US as well as lining up dates in Russia and the Ukraine, France and Germany and he also mentioned they would be appearing on August 7th at the Big Chill Festival staged at Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire ( note -there are no ticket details or confirmation of these dates as yet). Robert also selected tracks to play from The Black Keys and Charlie Rich.
All in all this was an excellent radio appearance –you can hear the show on the Listen Again link via

RichardG,
I can`t wait for blue-ray to be available 🙂
Greetings from Slovakia.
Hey Robert, when can we have you in Slovakia, country music is very common in here. Spirit of High Tatra Mountain very exciting.
Lubos.
Is anyone else on their knees praying Robert’s meeting Jimmy for a pre-production meeting about an official O2 DVD/BluRay release? (PLEEEASE!!!)
Fingers and toes x’d… 🙂
On Thursday Chris Evans talked about the video section but said that as Robert had too much hair they wouldn’t be able to get clear shots! So it would not be used.
Great show with Chris & Robert, what came through was LED ZEPPELIN are not dead I suspect there will be a few suprises in the future!!
A terrific light-hearted interview which starts about 90mins into the programme. Many of you will recall Plant/Page playing on Chris Evans’ TFI TV Programme back in 98.
I’d thought The Sporting Life album would remain JPJ’s most bizarre project but this opera is beyond bizarre. Great to see JPJ on stage!
Love to hear the boys are out having fun. Have we heard any news about Jimmy playing, recording anytime soon? I may have to eat my words. Any news on Jimmy’s website? Congrats to JPJ & Robert they’re always doing something interesting.
Just listened to the Robert/Chris Evans show on iplayer, Robert is always worth a listen too, all through the years its never boring listening to him.
Great listen for anyone thinking about it.
No surprise Robert is a Black Keys fan there are awesome! Great show too btw.
Robert was on great form on the breakfast show, and it was nice to hear that he’s still very much in touch with Jimmy. I noticed that there is a video section on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 webpage of past guests (Elton, and the mighty Gary Barlow, to name but two)…so hopefully some of Robert’s appearance will be available soon.
Bye for now,
Gary
The chat this morning on R2 was good, really enjoyed it. Did anyone make anything of the comments about Jimmy Page ?
Evans was mildly less squirm inducing than usual, feel good moment for this fan was the shout out to Pagey and the reminder “that we are seeing each other Wednesday” from Robert.Robert was much more effusive in his praise about the other ex members,a thaw in the air now spring is nearly here(or just a bustle in the hedgerow!)
Leave your response!
