Countdown to the Celebration Day…31 days to go.

To mark the impending momentous worldwide screening of the Led Zeppelin Ahmet Ertegun 02 reunion concert on October 17th, we are counting down to the day with a daily Celebration Day Newsletter post. This will feature relevant news and updates plus the TBL Countdown Collection – a daily celebration of Zep moments, memories and artefacts.

The Countdown Commences 31 days to go…so welcome to the first TBL Celebration Countdown Newsletter

Barney Hoskyns Book Launch:

Barney Hoskyns  Trampled Underfoot book was launched at a gathering at the Rough Trade East record shop in London on September 13th. Journalist Mat Snow chaired a panel that included yours truly, Barney Hoskyns plus former Zep roadie and guitarist in his own right Joe Jammer and former Zep tour personal assistant Dennis Sheehan who went on to become U2’s long term tour manager. Joe relayed his memories from arriving in England to work with Peter and the boys in November 1969. Dennis had some interesting tales to relay from the 1975 and 1977 period and told a very humorous story about U2 meeting up with Robert at Rockfield Studios in 1981. There was also quite a buzz in the air regarding the afternoon’s announcement of the 02 reunion show trailer. All in all an excellent night.

Finally…

THE TBL COUNTDOWN COLLECTION: NUMBER ONE WITH 31 DAYS TO GO:

Number 1 in the countdown to Celebration Day:

Led Zeppelin Going To California bootleg original vinyl double album on Trade Mark of Quality.

I ordered this in December 1972 from a mail order company based in Kent after seeing an advert for ‘’Live albums for sale’’ in Sounds music paper. A superb audience recording of a brilliant vibrant performance from Berkeley Community Centre September 14 1971. I played the hell out of this back then and I can quote Plant’s between song comments on this with no prob such as ‘’Last night there were several bowler hated beatnicks’’ and ‘’there was a pollution alert today and I lost my voice’’. It still sounded fantastic today. One of THE classic bootlegs.(DL)

Until tomorrow…keep on celebrating…

Thanks for the countdown Dave…Going To California was my first boot sometime in the latter part of the 70s…once I picked myself up from the floor following the opening blast of Immigrant Song/Heartbreaker, things were never the same again. Still picking up the odd bootleg today!

I’ll be blasting GTC while driving around tomorrow!

    Dave,

I enjoyed the Barney Hoskins book and read it over 2 nights.
But I must say I prefer your way, just concentrate on the music. That’s where the magic is.

All albion remain…sleeping now to rise again

    Keep the faith

    Geoff
