ROBERT PLANT SAYS GOODBYE TO BRAZIL WHILE CELEBRATIO​N DAY PREMIERES..

In Brasilia, DF, Plant visited a temple called “Templo da Boa Vontade”, before the gig, that had the same setlist of the second and last night in São Paulo – a journalist made a mistake and said that he played “Four Sticks” for the first time in Brasilia, but he already played this song the previous concert. The attendance at Nilson Nelson Gimnasium was about 10 thousand people and again the crowd was more receptive to the Zeppelin tunes than the Plant solo ones.

The most intimate concert of the year was last Saturday at Teatro Guaíra, in Curitiba, capital of Paraná state. There were a lot of complaints when tickets went to sale because they were the most expensive tickets of the tour – and maybe one of the most expensive of all times of Zep related acts. The best seats coasted R$ 840 or £ 257. The second best sector was R$ 640 or £ 196 and the cheapest sector was R$ 460 or £ 141. Many managed to pay half price as students but even this way it`s really expensive. And even this way was not easy to get a seat in this beautiful theater with only 2.167 places where I saw Emerson, Lake & Palmer in august of 1997.

Robert made 2 important changes in the set list: “All The King`s Horses” replaced “Song To The Siren” and in the end of the set “Freedom Fries” was played replacing “Fixing To Die”. Up until now this year, these two songs were played only in this gig. “Spoonful” was the only song that was not from the Zeppelin era or “Mighty Rearrenger” album.

Last night, at Gigantinho gimnasium, in Porto Alegre, capital of Rio Grande do Sul state, “Song To The Siren” and “Fixing To Die” returned to the set list. Once again about ten thousand people almost sold out the venue. Renato Borghetti, a typical and traditional musician from Rio Grande do Sul, made a mix of folk and Brazilian music as openingact. It was the first time that a Zep member was playing in Porto Alegre, probably the third “force” in Brazilian rock market. Sometimes the second – Jack Bruce, for instance, played only São Paulo and Porto Alegre. By the reports, I think the public understood better that was a Plant show, not a Led Zeppelin one.

So the Brazilan leg ended with big success. Seven shows, one sold out, five almost sold out and the first one at a 18.000 capacity venue with more than a half of it crowded. Something between 55.000 and 60.000 people in seven concerts, including one for only a little more than 2.000 people. It´s true that some fans didn`t like the Black Dog version and wanted a more Zep directed sound. I only say that if Robert wants this kind of stuff he could only simply play with JP, JPJ and Jason again… He said “See you soon” many times during this visit but I believe that it will be very difficult see him again here…

While Mr. Plant flys to Buenos Aires to do two shows in the end of the week, the greatest Led Zeppelin month in the history to Brazilian fans will be ended in a huge way. Tonight the wait will be over. At 21:00, Celebration Day will be finally screaned here. 26 cities of 22 states. Second and last call will be next Saturday. I will see it again in another cinema, another district. As you always say Dave, “keep listen, keep celebrating !”
