Thought I’d drop you a line to let you know about a legendary performance by Robert Plant at Bob Harris’ 60th birthday bash on Friday. He sang four numbers backed by a great band including Bernie Marsden (ex-Whitesnake – like you didn’t know that) on guitar. They did ‘Fever’, ‘Eyesight To The Blind’, ‘Killing Floor’ and one other tune which I didn’t know on which Plant got his axe out and traded bluesy solos with Marsden. He was in fine voice and very good humour… the guests all loved it. Naturally…
Bob’s team from GLR days were all there and talked to Robert for a while about Morocco and what he’s up to at the moment.

Robert Plant played at Bob Harris’s 60th birthday party last friday, which was held in a barn in
Oxfordshire way, a pal of mine works at Radio 2 and was invited along. He had a put together band with Bernie Marsden on guitar and my mate thinks the bass and drummer from the Storeys and a guy on harmonica whos name I’ve since forgotten. My mates not too much into blues R & B so didn’t know the names of the standards that the band played, except the starter was Fever, and the Lemon Song was played. With one song having Plant on lead guitar. My friend got talking to Marsden afterwards and he said that he was just watching Robert for the nod for the changes in the songs etc, so no doubt there wasn’t much rehearsal involved.
