Reviews:
This from Sam Greenspon
After a lengthy absence from Ottawa (October 1990), Robert and the Strange Sensation arrived in town on Sept. 9, a day before the show to do some rehearsals prior to the opening of the second leg of the 2005 North American tour the following night.
Saturday evening saw a relaxed looking Robert (sans beard and moustache) and accompanying band take the stage to an audience filled with anticipation. The city has been pumped for the concert and it has been mostly an all Led Zeppelin weekend on the local rock station. Unfortunatley though, Robert’s solo stuff not getting enough air play.
A reasonably accurate review can be found in the local paper here http://www.ottawasun.com/Showbiz/Music/2005/09/11/1211624-sun.html
A few observations: Band continues to sound fantastic – audience keys into this right off the bat and shows appreciation throughout the night. Robert’s voice in great form. Powerful, smooth and edgy as appropriate. No signs of this man slowing down. Not a lot of plantations to report – one more in addition to those reference in the link above: Prior to beginning of one of the songs, Robert looks up at the roof and shouts “listen to this one Eddie” (Pearl Jam are playing the venue later in the week) Off to Montreal Monday night.
