Encores: Babe I’m Gonna Leave You/Whole Lotta Love
Reports:
Hey Joe (the best track from Dreamland?), with a beautiful, soulful ethnic crescendo.
Going To California , with Percy relaxed on a stool (Earls Court, anyone?). Probably the most moving moment of the evening.
Gallows Pole (in a frenzied No Quarter-Unledded arrangement; Justin is just great on his ‘lute’)
Ramble On (and Magic fills the air)
Tall Cool One (“Do you like rock and roll?”, and the audience simply goes crazy, leaving the chairs to rush under the stage).
Baby I’m Gonna Leave You, with just a touch of flamenco courtesy of Skin’s acoustic guitar and Percy’s clapping hands.
You Need Love/Whole Lotta Love, introduced by a sly “Do you like the blues?”. Starts as the Willie Dixon number, just to grow with ‘that’ riff. 10 minutes of total madness.
A fresh, windy, beautiful evening. Afternoon soundcheck with Robert trying Funny In My Mind (I Believe I’m Fixin’ To Die) and What Is And What Should Never Be four the pleasure of the fans queing up outside the magnificent Piazza Cima in Conegliano. Approximate concert time: 80 minutes.
Robert in great form – and a great perfomance: better than others S.S. Gigs that I’ve seen…!
