Stourbridge Rock Cafe
This – and the fantastic pix from Stephen Bottrill
I went to see the Vanilla Fudge last night at Stourbridge Rock Cafe. This was of 3 UK shows and featured Carmine Appice & Tim Bogert. Robert Plant was in the crowd. The show was going great – Fudge were quite brilliant up until about half way through when during the drum solo, Carmine Appice was informed that Tim Bogart had been taken ill off-stage.
We were at first told that was the end. But they came back on – first with the help of support band The Lizzards, and then by Percy for a furious “Parchment Farm” and a few tales of when Zeppelin supported Vanilla Fudge in America. The stories related were Robert thanking Carmine for introducing him to the pleasures of America and the doctors where he could get penicillin! Also Carmine remembering how when Led Zep were starting out he suggested to the nervous young Robert that he should move around a little more on stage.
All this to crowd of less then Fifty! Where was everybody??
