Review:
This was the first Robert’s visit to Minsk. Robert was 10 minutes late to his press-conference that was held the day before the concert. One of the journalists congratulated him on his birthday. And then the questions poured at him from all quarters. Somebody asked Plant to characterize himself. And the vocalist said that he is a middle-aged tennis-player. Another journalist asked him about his last music purchase. The answer was: “Dreamland”. Then Robert said that he intended to release a documentary film about himself. There was a question about association with John Paul Jones. Plant said he’s got John’s phone number and they can talk now.
When somebody asked why he likes to perform in London he said he doesn’t like to perform in London and would be able to tell about impressions of Minsk only after the concert. To the question about playing guitar in Minsk Robert said he is ashamed to play guitar because he can’t play guitar very well, he can’t play more than 30 seconds. During the press-conference the Strange Sensation said that Robert teaches them a lot. But the members of the group teach him too because they are all of various directions and the result of the whole comes from their common work.
Robert also told about his journey to Timbuktu and Mali and the music of that places that influences him like the music of 60s.
He was asked about the weather, his genius and football. Then somebody asked him what he finds general between 20th and 21st Centuries? The answer was: human reproduction by fission (test tube?), mobile phones and plural orgasms(!!).

The concert was held on August 12. Many people in Minsk decided to save their money. They didn’t buy tickets for Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation’s performance. The stadium was situated in a low place and the concert could be seen outside from the hills. Robert Plant didn’t leave them unanswered – the scene was naked, there wasn’t even Dreamland cover at the background, there were too little lights and the vocalist was 30 minutes late. So the show started at 21:00 instead of 20:30.

The supporting act was Drum XTC (drum group). Robert and the Strange Sensation appeared on the field of Stadium driving by Gazel car. He was dressed in a pink shirt. Robert started singing songs from Dreamland, but many people wanted to hear LZ’s songs. When guitar solo got too long some of them began to go away. And only when Plant announced Gallows Pole the audience became animated and the great excitement filled the stadium. At the concert there were problems with the sound. It was too loud at the dance floor and people at the stands marked that there were overloads at low frequencies.

Thanks Yeremina Yelena with Gorodetskiy Danila (press-conference in Minsk) and Alexander Litvinov (Minsk concert)
