This from Russell Cherrington
Back for the second night in this beautiful venue we get a different set and a different vibe from both band and audience.

Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation open with an amazing version of If I Ever Get Lucky I’ll Win My Train Fare home, which just builds and builds and allows Robert to deliver an amazing vocal performance. He holds a note at the end of the song for upwards of thirty seconds and it is clear that his voice has never sounded better.

The next song not played last night is a very faithful and alive reading of Babe I’m Gonna Leave You, this still has a very Zeppelinesque feel about the delivery and leaves you feeling as free form as the delivery of Whole Lotta Love. This is followed by a simply stunning version of If I Was A Carpenter. This song is as heart felt and beautiful as anything Plant and his past band ever produced.

I would say after that the whole show became more free form than the night before and the version of Another Tribe from the new album was a little too free. Robert called it a dubious version.

The rest of the set followed the same as the night before, played with all the style and passion of this collection of musicians. Whole Lotta Love had a different introduction from an old blues song that I didn’t recognize, but the whole place seemed to go completely mad and they want to stage dive and basically lose it. Which just goes to show why this song closes the set like nothing else could, even in 2005 it is what the Led Zeppelin starved masses want.

Robert leaves by telling the audience the band will be back in the Isle Of Man on their headlining tour, hopefully in October / November.
Great venue, great band, all I can say is catch Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation because nothing has been this good in thirty years (gone by).
