JIMMY PAGE AND THE OUTSIDE EDGE AND RIO APPEARANCE

Jimmy Page attended a special fundraiser on Wednesday night at the Riverside Studios in aid of a professional theatre company that is run by people affected with addiction. The company, Outside Edge Theater Company, is celebrating its 10th Birthday and Jimmy Page, its patron, was there to introduce some guest appearances from the world of music and theatre. Proceeds from the evening will go to the company to enable them to keep delivering their work to chemical addicts at all stages of recovery as well it’s work with children and young people (including children and young people affected by parental drug/alcohol addiction, young offenders, and young people in care).
The Outside Edge Theatre Company is the only professional theatre company in the UK that provides theatre and drama that work with people affected by addiction.
The company inspires and motivates the drug/alcohol addicts they work with – building skills and confidence and acting as a catalyst for positive change.
Through their public performances they are able to change peoples’ perception of addiction whilst at the same time providing high-quality theatre.
The company receives no fixed revenue funding and survives mainly from project to project and individual donations. Most of its performances, trainings, and workshops are free. They want to keep it that way so that anyone who wants to can take part.
Jimmy Page first encountered the group just over a year ago and soon became a patron, he said of the group, ‘I am delighted and proud to be a supporter of The Outside Edge Theatre Company.
They manage, under the guidance of Phil Fox, to produce artistically excellent work that challenges and entertains audiences at the same time as making a real difference.
They demonstrate the very real capacity of live performance to positively transform shattered lives. Edge’s work with addicts – and the ways in which their performances awaken audiences and provoke debate – is quite simply stunning’.
If you visit the company’s Face-book site at The-Outside-Edge-Theatre-Company then you’ll find at short video of Jimmy and trustee David Charkham talking about the companies ground breaking venture. You all so find details of further productions and ways to help this very worthwhile cause.
It has also been confirmed that Jimmy Page will be appearing at a British school in Rio de Janiero this Saturday, Nov. 28, at a benefit for one of his charities. Casa Jimmy, a shelter for abandoned street children in Rio de Janiero, opened 11 years ago as a program of one of the charities Page supports, Task Brazil. Look out for a special on the spot report from the event on the TBL website soon.
