WEMBLEY ’79/LED JEDWARD ’09/WEMBLEY ’71

I’ve never been much good at taking photos as the one above confirms. It may not be in with a shout of greatest sports pic in the world ever, but it’s a genuine all action reminder of a memorable afternoon thirty years ago
My old trusty Olympus trip just about captured the moment R. Plant rounded the advancing goalkeeper Martin Day (sorry West Ham fans!) to net a rather fine goal in his teams 3-1 win over LBC Radio.  The occasion was the Annual Sun/Goaldiggers five a side football tournament at …

JIMMY PAGE THE EARLY YEARS

A book covering Jimmy Page early life has been released by a childhood friend of the guitarist. David Williams, from Epsom, is the author of The First Time We Met The Blues, in-which he tells of his friendship with music icons such as Jimmy Page and Mick Jagger. David Williams and Jimmy Page grew up together in Miles Road, Epsom, in the late 1950s, where Page’s first-ever paid gig happened at the Comrades’ Club.
Williams said: “We just grew up kicking a ball around and doing the things kids do, …

by Tara Dublin on November 22, 2009 Oregon Music News
The word supergroup has been overused to the point of cliché.  But Sunday night at the Roseland, Them Crooked Vultures–John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, and Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters (along with additional guitarist …

Them Crooked Vultures should consider billing themselves as the second coming of the Monsters of Rock.
Sure Monsters of Rock was a long-running festival that featured several groups and TCV are just one band, but this one band features John Paul Jones …

Last Night: Them Crooked Vultures at the Fox
By Rossiter Drake in Last Night
Better Than: Listening to Robert Plant shy away from the high notes at Led Zeppelin’s 2007 reunion show.
It’s no accident that the supergroup has, in recent years, gone the way of New Coke, the McRib, and Lindsay Lohan’s career. For every Cream – the bluesy British …

.Them Crooked Vultures Rain Rockness Upon the Wiltern
by Drew Tewksbury L.A. Weekly November 17, 2009

From fist-pumping stomps to face-melting solos, Them Crooked Vultures’ performance at the Wiltern Tuesday wasn’t an avalanche of hard rock–it was a monolith. From the very start, the Vultures had the Wiltern’s sold-out crowd pulsating to the lumbering rhythms of “No One Loves …

Monday night’s surprise warm-up show at the Roxy by Them Crooked Vultures was a deafening barrage of pure rock ecstasy that lives up to the archives of praise they’ve quickly amassed in these tubes.
