THEM CROOKED VULTURES AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES
Sarah Rodman at The Globe
Sunday night at the House of Blues the 63-year-old Zep bassist proved more than fit for duty, stepping lively with the new super group Them Crooked Vultures through a dynamic 82-minute set.
Jones is clearly jazzed to be joining another thunderous rhythm section, as Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters held down the drum seat with the same combination …

Come on….“Them Crooked Vultures” …even with the name they are off to a good start . The short videos on YouTube had me interested and well being a concertaholic I knew reputation was enough for me to get a ticket and experience these guys live. I’ve listened to more Zeppelin than Foo’s or Queens of The Stone Age… so I will not be …
John Paul Jones was busy last weekend at the Austin City Limits Festival. On Thursday Them Crooked Vultures performed a warm-up at Austin “Stubbs” club before moving onto the festival itself, held in Austin’s Zilker Park on Friday. In the afternoon JPJ complete with mandolin, joined Sara Watkins onstage for the ballad All This Time, a bluegrass hoedown of Hold What Ya Got, and Long Hot Summer Days.
In the evening The Vultures performed to the largest festival audience over the weekend. The performance was filmed and is due to screen …
Robert Plant made a surprise appearance at the annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park last Saturday. He was a guest of Buddy Miller who was part of last year’s Raising Sand tour. Robert performed a version of Hank Snow’s I’m Moving On. Back in England on Saturday, BBC1’s Football Focus TV programme featured Robert in their weekly ‘’This is my club’’ slot. Interspersed with clips of the Zep Danish TV show and various old Wolves footage, Robert spoke of his life long support of Wolverhampton Wanderers and …
Last Monday the grey drizzly streets of London in autumn seemed a long way from a summers day in Berkshire back in 1972. However the events of the latter came into clear focus when I spent an evening listening to Eddie, to paraphrase that famous bootleg title. The Eddie in question being Eddie Kramer the renowned veteran studio engineer who worked on a variety of Zep albums.
Eddie was in town to relay some of his personal stories at Metropolis Studios a part of his ‘’Kramer Archives & Waves Signature …
TBL Exclusive Interview With Eddie Kramer On Led Zep 2 40 Years On…
In an exclusive interview conducted by Dave Lewis on Monday in London, Eddie Kramer the director of engineering and mixing on Led Zeppelin 2, reflected on the making of the album 40 years on.
Eddie took time out from presenting his ‘’Evening With Eddie Kramer ’’ event at Metropolis Studios to talk about the album for TBL. Looking back to the mixdown session of Whole Lotta Love, he described it as ‘’A happy mistake’’.
‘’I was living in New York …

As the line wound around sidewalk beside The Fillmore Detroit in a light drizzle, a buzz was evident. Kristina Guthrie got into town from Windsor with her friends at 3 p.m. and was first in line for the general-admission floor to see Them Crooked Vultures Thursday night.
“It’s John Paul Jones. That’s why we’re here,” she exclaimed, speaking of the former …

Concert Review: Them Crooked Vultures
Tragedy Of The Age Web-Site
It was a four hour trip between my home in Pennsylvania and the venue I was headed to in Columbus, Ohio – and while I knew that I had work bright and early the next morning, it was no more than an afterthought as I made the journey to see what I knew to be a rock concert of epic proportions – …
