It takes a lot to get us out to a show by 8 p.m., especially to see a supergroup, of all things. So there must have been a good reason, right? Well, this supergroup has Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones in it. If you need us to name the bands those guys were/are in, then immediately stop reading this, go to your local record shop and ask …

Them Crooked Vultures started early and played long, changing up the setlist from their performance at Stubb’s the night before and leaving a wake of jaws on floors from a crowd that was entirely unfamiliar with their sound. Speaking of sound, they were far and away the loudest band to set foot on ACL grounds thus far. 100 yards away, waiting for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to begin on the AMD …
October is here and more anniversaries – as you can see on the site, October is Led Zeppelin 2 month around these parts – and maybe yours too.
It’s incredible to think that album has been around our world for nearly four decades – and having just played it for what will be the first of many a Zep 2 related playback over the next month, the effect is still electric.
I’m going to search out all the variations I have and give them an airing over the next month. The …
Well respected UK session drummer Bobby Graham, who played on some of the biggest hits in the 60’s alongside Jimmy Page, has died at the age of 69. As the most in demand session drummer in the 60s, Bobbie is credited as having played on over 1500 UK hit singles. His unique drumming skills can be heard on hits such as the Dave Clark Five Glad All Over, The Kinks You Really Got Me, Dusty Springfield’s You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me and the Walker Brothers Sun Ain’t …

Aftermath: Them Crooked Vultures at Stubb’s in Austin
Craig Hlavaty in Live Shots
Just a few short hours ago Aftermath saw the rock world’s newest supergroup in action as Queens of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme, ex-Nirvana drummer/current Foo Fighters helmer Dave Grohl, and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones took the stage at Stubb’s in Austin for a warm-up gig before this afternoon’s Austin City Limits festival appearance. Thursday night’s show was only …
Late September rolls around and thoughts as always drift back to that fateful day all of 29 years ago when everything stopped. John Bonham is still the best and most missed drummer of all time. I’ll be acknowledging that fact with a Bonzo based playlist here over the next few days. Definite inclusions will be Hots On For Nowhere – those last fills are just impossible, Walters Walk – marvel at the way he comes banging right in at .05 seconds, Good Times Bad Times – bass pedals never sounded …

October 01 Austin, TX – Stubb’s
October 02 Austin, TX – Austin City Limits Festival
October 05 Nashville, TN …
