Jimmy Page made a special appearance at the British School Rock Fest Urca Site in Rio De Janeiro on November 28th. He was there in support of the charities Task Brasil for Casa Jimmy. Just a day before the official release of the Vultures debut album and the beginning of their US tour, the band announced a warm-up gig with just 12 hours notice. The gig at The Roxy in Los Angeles was announced on the bands website with strict instructions, tickets will be available exclusively in-person at the venue on show day. No line-ups prior to 2pm. Them Crooked Vultures have the track “Mind Eraser, No Chaser” available as a free download for a limited time on iTunes. It’s a trademark Homme/Grohl work out, with squelching guitar that lurches around over big pounding drums. JPJ adds a steady bass line and adds backing vocals. And watch out for the brass band at the end!

Them Crooked Vultures have released their new single “New Fang” on to their own YouTube page. The track from the bands forthcoming debut album, opens up with a few blissful seconds of Grohl’s monster drumming and launches into a groove propelled by Jones’ wandering bassline and a crunchy guitar riff that’s wouldn’t feel out of place on Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti . The much anticipated Them Crooked Vultures album is set for release on November 17th via DGC/Interscope Records. The eponymous debut album will include 13 self-produced tracks all of which have been featured on the bands much talked about mini tour, which began on August 9th at Chicago’s Cabaret Metro before moving on for a series of shows in the UK, Europe and US. Their recent dates around the East coast of America wound up on October 15th with an appearance at New York’s Roseland Ballroom.

Them Crooked Vultures have announced tour dates in Australia and New Zealand for January 2010. Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones will play six shows, beginning in Perth on January 19 and winding up in Auckland on January 30. This follows on from their already sold out UK tour in December and a US tour in October. Three German gigs have also been added. The full lists of dates are as follows:

Them Crooked Vultures, the new Dave Grohl/Josh Homme/John Paul Jones supergroup made their UK debut on Wednesday night in a support slot to The Arctic Monkeys at the 02 Academy Brixton. Along with guitarist Alain Johannes, they performed a set that included the tracks Elephant, Gunman, Mind Eraser (No Chaser),Daffodils and Nobody Loves Me And Neither Do I.
