Bonzo / Priory / All Pens Blazing

Late September rolls around and thoughts as always drift back to that fateful day all of 29 years ago when everything stopped. John Bonham is still the best and most missed drummer of all time. I’ll be acknowledging that fact with a Bonzo based playlist here over the next few days. Definite inclusions will be Hots On For Nowhere – those last fills are just impossible, Walters Walk – marvel at the way he comes banging right in at .05 seconds, Good Times Bad Times – bass pedals never sounded …

TBL 24 Soon / Beatles / Ramble on

Spend the last few days wading through the proofs of the new Tight but Loose magazine. Apologies for the late arrival of this issue but it’s now at the printers and nearly ready to go. Once again there are some great contributions – Mike Tremaglio’s Led Zeppelin US summer of ‘69 festival log clarifies exactly when and where they played outdoors that summer and is a fascinating read. In the Collector Focus spot, Nick Anderson explains how he has come to amass one of the largest collections of Zep singles …

Led Zeppelin Over Europe 1980

Your memories / feedback requested
I am now commencing initial research for the next TBL Publishing project which will focus on Led Zeppelin’s final tour – the 14 shows that spanned Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and Germany to form the Over Europe tour in the summer of 1980.
To that end I am requesting feedback and memories from those that were there. If you saw Led Zeppelin on that tour I would welcome your recollections of the gig (or gigs). In the style of the Knebworth book – how you got …

Late Summer / Unledded / TBL 24 Soon

Late August and the summer is nearly over. Seems a second ago it started. Always something of a wistful reflective time around these parts – the good lady Janet’s birthday is Monday (31st)then it’s mine the following Saturday (5ht). It’s back to school for Adam in a few days, and then in a couple of weeks it’s back to University for Sam. Usually September 1st would indicate the beginning of the retail Christmas period and it’s already feeling a bit weird being out of that particular loop for the first …

Back To Knebworth

30 Years Gone / Seeing Was Believing Again
The days leading up to the Knebworth Celebration Day Lytton Arms Event were somewhat fraught here. Amongst other things, late on Friday we suffered a leaking bathroom which led to water coming through the ceiling. Thankfully our man Pete came to the rescue, but as we left for Knebworth at 11 am on Saturday morning, the house was not looking too good.
Before all that, Larry Bergmann had arrived from America on Friday and we met with Gary Foy in the Fox for …

It was 30 years ago today…

30 years ago today, I and thousands of others, were in that field just outside Stevenage eagerly awaiting the live return of Led Zeppelin.
30 years on it’s been like a lifetime… but a second.
Think of Knebworth and the images remain vivid: The campsite,
Tommy Vance’s Friday night rock show filling the air, chants of ‘’Zeppelin’’,’’Zeppelin’’ , the early morning rush for the gates, the long wait during the day ,Skynyrd’s Tuesdays Gone fading from the PA. the screen unfolding…and there in the light performing The Song Remains The Same, Led Zeppelin …
