‘Open Mike with Mike Bullard’ TV Show, Toronto

Also, the show was filmed in the CTV studio building at 888 Yonge St. in Toronto – which used to be known as “The Rockpile”, where Zep played two shows each on Feb 2 1969 and Aug 18 1969, respectively. Bullard showed Jonesy color photos from the 18th Aug show. The funny thing was that JPJ commented that Led Zeppelin were playing the Whisky A GoGo in LA during the Woodstock Weekend, the reality was they were in Toronto on the Monday of the Woodstock Weekend.

John Paul Jones appeared on the Canadian TV show ‘Open Mike with Mike Bullard’ and played an instrumental version of ‘Going to California’ on an electric mandolin. JPJ said that he had just flown in from Washington, D.C. to do the show and appeared to be a little tired. Bullard’s idiotic questions probably didn’t help much. The performance was nice, though.

It would be fantastic if someone out there had recorded this and ended up posting it on youtube.

There are other spots from this Canadian TV Show but nothing with JPJ unfortunately.

1980 was so long ago, I think those were the days when VCRs were considered super luxury items and were in the thousands of (US) dollars so I may be wishing for something that will never happen but I thought I would mention it in case it sparks someone into action!

    Rock on!
