Last night was truly a great show from Them Crooked Vultures.  It was a hot 36 degree day from Melbourne with the venue being the old Festival Hall.– A venue I had not been to before but famous for The Beatles playing there. Being so old, there was no air conditioning and the drinks queues were always busy. The support band did not seem to go well as there were few claps (I didn’t hear any cheers) and to me the sound was awful, the guitar sounded like Yoko at certain points and if the singer sang a high note it really killed the whole sound.

BUT once Them Crooked Vultures came out, it all changed for the better. The sound was perfect.  The opening song of “No One Loves Me & Neither Do I” was met with a mighty roar, and the crowd went crazy. They really wanted to be there (it was a sold out night!) I had perfect view of John Paul Jones (I read that day that Josh Homme had called John Paul Jones their secret weapon) and, honestly he was the most getting into it (other than Dave doing his animal from the Muppets style drumming) his grooving and swaying and smiling was inspirational. Similar to Perth, if his name was mentioned or he did some kind of small solo the crowd screamed/whistled the most for him!”Seeing the Perth comments I noticed an equal amount of Zep and Foo Fighters T-shirts.

Everyone loved it. I took my 16 year old son who commented once it was all over, that was truly good as!”In Aus, that doesnt get any better.
