Well Sam didn’t get to see Them Crooked Vultures as they performed on the Saturday at Reading. However, in a strange quirk of fate, long time TBL supporter Gary Wade’s son Josh did do as he attended The Leeds Festival on the Friday and rated TCV set as the highlight of the day. Co- incidentally both Sam and Josh were born within a day of each other at Bedford north wing hospital in 1990. Now they are off doing the festival thing just as their Dad’s did 30 years ago.

Your memories / feedback requested
I am now commencing initial research for the next TBL Publishing project which will focus on Led Zeppelin’s final tour – the 14 shows that spanned Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and Germany to form the Over Europe tour in the summer of 1980.
To that end I am requesting feedback and memories from those that were there. If you saw Led Zeppelin on that tour I would welcome your recollections of the gig (or gigs). In the style of the Knebworth book – how you got …

Late August and the summer is nearly over. Seems a second ago it started. Always something of a wistful reflective time around these parts – the good lady Janet’s birthday is Monday (31st)then it’s mine the following Saturday (5ht). It’s back to school for Adam in a few days, and then in a couple of weeks it’s back to University for Sam. I have been to many shows at Brixton, but never has queue outside stretched further than last night. It went round the entire venue, good time to have some last pre-gig pints from the off licences we walked past. Inside there was still nothing 100 % confirming their appearance, but asking stewards if it is THEM, the odd chuckle was enough for me. The whole place was buzzing like I haven’t seen for a support act since Soundgarden and Fait No More supported GnR back in 1992.
At 19:45 sharp they …

Thirty years ago today, I unwrapped the first of six brown paper covers holding the contents of the new Led Zeppelin album and yes life after Knebworth back then was very good.
In a bizarre twist of fate the post office I am now frequenting on a regular basis to post out the Knebworth book is but a stones throw from my friend Dec’s old house, and another ex Wallbanger player the late Karl Bergin.
It was at Karl’s house thirty years ago on the afternoon of Monday August 20th that I …
