Them Crooked Vultures at the Fillmore

First the goodies: Check out a slideshow here.
So, having seen Lucero last week at the Bluebird, I amazingly got off my lame, seldom-go-to-shows-anymore ass again last night (twice inside a week … I know) for Them Crooked Vultures at the Fillmore Auditorium.
The superband, for those unfamiliar, is comprised of Dave Grohl, frontman for the Foo Fighters and long ago drummer for Nirvana; Josh Homme, frontman for Queens of the Stone Age; and the legendary John Paul Jones, bassist, keyboardist and mandolin player from Led …

And she wasn’t the only one rocking out. Opposite the anonymous fan, Them Crooked Vultures also were …

No wonder the post-sundown sets are so in demand at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Those seeing the main stage from afar Friday night might have thought a fire was rising out of the desert, as Them Crooked Vultures was flanked by dozens of perfectly arranged golden lights,
As the dinner hour approached, Coachella got a little aggressive with its top-billed acts. The rock super group Them Crooked Vultures, featuring Josh Homme, drummer Dave Grohl and bassist John Paul Jones, brought a moment …

TBL ARCHIVE EXTRACT:THE MAD MONTH OF MARCH 1998: PART ONE

Now this one is a bit of an epic.  This was first published in TBL 13 – It’s an on  the road chronicle of the TBL crew’s adventures in pursuit of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant across the month of March 1998. This took in two dates in Istanbul – something of a zenith in my own ‘’Crazy things I’ve done in the name of Zep’’ portfolio, followed by the superb Shepherds Bush Empire gig which in turn was followed by successive TV recordings at Top Of The Pops in Elstree …

Robert Plant and Buddy Miller in 2009

Robert Plant and Buddy Miller 2008
The previous photos of Robert in the studio posted earlier, are not from his new recording sessions -thanks to Steve Sauer and Bill McCue for bringing this to our attention.
