Well Croydon duly rocked last Friday as we came out of our dens to celebrate 40 glorious years. The turn out was good and Boot Led Zeppelin played for over three hours.
Unfortunately Mick Wall was unable to make it going down with a nasty gastric virus so I donned the number 12 shirt and waxed lyrical on his book and other topics. Graeme conducted the ABC raffle and auction and many hands went in pockets to support the trust.
As ever it was good to chew the Zep fat with familiar …
All roads lead to Croydon on Friday as we come out of our dens to celebrate 40 glorious years of Led Zeppelin. The TBL crew will be in attendance, and I’ll be conducting an interview with author Mick Wall. I’m 150 pages into his mammoth new Zep biography and it’s already shaping up as the best book I’ve read on the band in years – maybe ever. Graeme Hutchinson is conducting a special charity auction for the ABC and Boot Led Zeppelin are headlining – all in all it’s a …
A new track recorded by John Paul Jones and Rayna Gellert from band Uncle Earl features on a new CD made up of the soundtrack for the acclaimed Sacred Harp documentary Awake, My Soul: The Story of the Sacred Harp and a compilation of artists performing their arrangements of Sacred Harp songs. The soundtrack CD contains some of the finest recordings of traditional Sacred Harp singing, a beautifully haunting and powerful form of a cappella shape note singing. The second part, Help Me to Sing, features 19 tracks commissioned especially …

Doors open at 5pm and the line up includes memorabilia displays, stalls including Tight But Loose, and various screenings of Zep footage.
Guest speakers Dave Lewis and Mick Wall (who will be discussing his already much talked about new Led Zeppelin biography When Giants Walked The Earth) are scheduled to appear around 6.30.
After which ABC’s Graeme Hutchinson will be conducting …
John Paul Jones gave firm indication that together with Jimmy Page and Jason Bonham, he is ready to partake in a Led Zeppelin tour without Robert Plant.
JPJ appeared at the Manson Guitar Weekend in Exeter and as well as performing took part in a question and answer session.
Talking about the possibility of a tour he said:
“As you probably know, Jimmy, Jason and I are actually rehearsing and we’ve had the odd singer come in and have a bash. As soon as we know — which we don’t — we will …
It’s an easy mistake to make when you have life laundried like I have these past few days.
So there we were at the local Beds County Council rubbish tip with 26 bags of rubbish from the loft to dispose of. It’s quite a maze at our local tip with skips aplenty: man made wood, recycled items, small electrical goods, large electrical goods, newspapers and magazines….now that was the one for us.
So once organized by the not so friendly tip advisor, an anguished cry goes up from the good lady:
“What …
There are sometimes (most times) when only Led Zeppelin will do.
That’s the way it was last night. Coming back from an intensive fourteen hour day at work, an inspired soundtrack was required. Hitting the wheel of the iPod to albums…there was only one thing for it. Presence by Led Zeppelin and fuck did it hit the mark.
At the right time and in the right mood these seven tracks sum up what this band means to me more than any other record they made. From the sheer exhilaration of Achilles (just …
With the hugely successful Raising Sands Tour now over, having played it’s final date on October 5th at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, now’s a good time to look back over the last month at just a few highlights.
Robert and Alison attended the Mercury Prize gala on September 9, 2008 in London, although there didn’t come away with the prestigious award, that went to Elbow, with their album, The Seldom Seen Kid, each nominee received a nomination award. Robert joked in an interview prior to the show “At my age …
